Hello forum,
I have a new ASUS AC87VG.
Normally there is a Telnet item in the administrator menu to enable Telnet.
But not in that current firmware.
Is there a possibility to connect per Telnet to the router?

nice is this the new ASUS DSL-AC87VG ? looking forward to see how the voip side of this unit works and finding out what chipset is used and hopefully its moved away from the mediatek chipset back to the broadcom chipset

the telnet is usually hidden under

administration / system

just under the ntp server

there is no Telnet menu item, see picture.

This router isn't running Asuswrt - it's running an OpenWRT fork

There is a newer firmware for that model Version 1.00.10_build485 and one of the release notes is UI related issue fixes/ enhancements.

Perhaps telnet was added.

I installed the new firmware, but there is just the same, no Telnet item.
I try to connect with Putty, but no connect (Networkerror: connection refused).
Does anyone have an idea?

It's possible that they didn't include that feature. This router is based on a completely different firmware from their other models (i.e. it does not run Asuswrt).
