Asus Admin-System-Local Access Config (Authentication) Question

Been updating the seurity on my Asus RT-AX58U router, found Authentication Method and thought it would be a good idea to set it to HTTPS rather than HTTP. So it gives me a certificate to import. What I don't know is where this certificate comes from and if it creates greater or less security risks? I've already imported it into the system and it is working fine. Any advice?

If you're wanting security for local access there really is no point. If you're opening access from the WAN don't (unless it's an AP), set up a VPN instead.

Since I've already installed it, should I just leave it? Just didn't want to open any doors.

Yeah, if you haven't opened the door yet just leave it. As I said, if you want external access to your router (or network devices) you could just set up a VPN server on the router.
Incidentally, if you set up the Asus app on a device and it suggests opening a wan port you don't actually need to.
