ASUS AX88U Pro not working with new Xfinity XB8 that I put in bridge mode

So I switched to the Xfinity internet provided XB8 (modem and router combo) from my owned Netgear CM1100. I got the XB8 activated and put it into bridge mode so it's supposed to just work as a modem at that point. I had planned to keep on using my Asus AX88U Pro to handle the router stuff but I can't get the Asus to work now. It powers on but the 2.5G light towards the middle that has the world looking symbol underneath it is a solid red. When I try and access the login site for the asus router it just brings up a welcome page and wants me to create a new network. It doesn't ask me to login to my existing network. I was under the impression that I could just log in and my old network settings would just work? Any idea whats going on here? I do notice when I have the XB8 hooked up directly to my desktop and run a speedtest it shows IPV6 now whereas before it would always show IPV4 with my old Netgear CM1100 modem.

Any ideas?

Is this a new router ? The page you are seeing wants you to set up the the router for the first time have you done this ? You will also need to power cycle the modem/gateway after any change with what"s hooked up to it.

No this is not a new router as I have been previously using this ASUS router with my Netgear CM1100 cable modem up until this morning when I swapped that out for the Xfinity XB8. I had assumed that the ASUS would either just work or at least prompt me to enter my username and password that I created when I get the router initially. Like you mentioned if likes it's asking me to set up the router for the first time but I would've thought my previous network settings would have been saved?

Maybe I just set up a new network and name it the same thing as my old network was named and use the same password? I did power cycle the new modem (XB8) and power cycled my asus router. Come to think of it I didn't reboot my PC at all so maybe I need to do that? Hmmm?
