Asus AX88U. Several Issues

Have a AX88U. Current Version : 3.0.0.4.384_8018-g9e11eb3
Have 2 nodes: RT-AC66U B1 Current Version : 3.0.0.4.385_20253-gb338b0e (Basement and second floor)
Internet line is 500/500 Mbps.

1. When I only use AX88U: When us Ethernet cabel into AX88U and Ethernet cabel to a PC I only god download 398. Upload 376 with speedtest.net. Testet many times and around that speed.
I take the Ethernet cabel directly into the PC. The Speed are 506 Down an 500 up.

2. Wifi speed are very slow at channel AUTO. Around 100/100
Tried With different channel.

1. Are you testing from the same spot as when you're testing with the RT-AC66U_B1's?

What client device are you using to test with? What specific tests? Use a laptop that is plugged into AC power and in the Best Performance battery mode to test for maximum speeds. Using any 'handheld' client may or may not give you a proper overview of your WiFi capabilities.

2. This may be the limit of your equipment and available channels.

How many SqFt is your home? Doesn't the single RT-AX88U cover what you need (assuming it can be put in a central location)?

Do you not have Channels above 64? Are you close to an Airport or Military base?

A suggestion: Flash RMerlin firmware on all the routers, complete an M&M Config and ideally, a Nuclear Reset (see more info about those guides in the link in my signature below) and then use as few AP's as possible to get the coverage you need.

Even without flashing to RMerlin firmware, following the guides suggested above may help get your routers to give their best performance possible.

If you have flashed many firmware versions and you haven't performed a full reset/Initialize, it will at least get your routers back to a good/known state to either fix the issues you're seeing or, confirm that it is hardware-based limitations.

1. I use a stationary PC i7-8700K With Ethernet cabel. When testing I have NOT connected the nodes AC66U B1. Used speedtest.net. I took a Restore to factory. It worked the speed is 500 /494Mbps.

2. The house are 3 floor of 100 square meter. My first problem was to get wifi to my garage for connecting a Zaptec Power for my Audi etron. Wifi always fell out. I have my oldest AC66U as arepeater in the garage.

I tried channel 100 and 104. But my laptop find not my Wifi in 5GHz. Have a Killer 1535 card.

After restore to factory: The Wifi speed at the laptop was Down 115. Up 75.

Is it possible ta have the Repeat mode router in the garage to only use AX88U router? Then i have -65dBm. Sometimes it goes to the Aimesh node. Then its -72dBm. Why will it og to another node when AX88U have the strongest signal? I have this Asus Router App at my iphone.

Hi, I have got one of these and changed my 5Ghz to channel 80 and disable ax-mode but still it is running on channel 20?? I using latest merlin build too.

If I try my speed from my comp (DESKTOP-3700X) it is like this with client Wifi 6 Ax200, site is bredbandskollen.se and what I pay for is 250MB/100MB.

Under Wifi I see my changes (and yes have applied)

But under System logs/Wireless logs it shows channel 20?

And it works as it too but from ROUTER I have good speed with spdMerlin

Is this some known bug i RT-AX88U that 5Ghz dont utilize and use the broadband totally? I have tried to search this forum but sooo many posts and NOT related to 5Ghz and channel 20

Now I have seemd to solved this one today, I did change controlchannel manually to 64, activated Wifi 6 (again) and channel 80.

Voila, Im paying for 250Mbit dl/100Mbit ul.

Highly recommend using a wifi explorer / inspector tool to see what other channels are in use in your various client areas, then calibrating your channel(s) to an unused space....

Also second @L&LD advice to use the minimum number of nodes. AIMesh uses the same channel so they crowd each other out.
