Asus BQ16 general questions

New Around Here
Hello,

I have a couple of Asus questions I could not find in the documentation nor the forum. If someone has any answer for this I would really appreciate it.

I'm having tons of disconnects in the Guest SSIDs of the BQ16, have an ongoing support case with Asus, hopefully it will get solved soon (same issues as described by this reviewer https://lesterchan.net/blog/2024/11/11/asus-zenwifi-bq16-mesh-router-review/)

1 - Why do only some of the SSIDs have the option of being selectively enabled/disabled on AiMesh nodes? I'm referring to the AiMesh submenu inside the Network - SSID menu

I have 3 SSIDs, the main SSID and the IoT SSID do not have the AiMesh option, the main Guest has the SSID option. It would be super useful if we could selectively enable/disable SSID propagation on a per AiMesh node. Is this a limitation?

2 - When the BQ16 is in AP mode and you configure a Guest SSID with the Use same subnet as main network option disabled (isolated network), the clients in this network do not receive any DHCP address.

I'm assuming this is because the isolated is implemented using a different VLAN and thus requires a separate DHCP server and specific routing to the Internet? It would be super useful if Asus handled this internally instead of having to setup all this for a Guest network (like other manufacturers do). Is there any simpler way to enable isolated Guest SSIDs?

3 - Is there any way to setup different TX power for different nodes? It seems that the Tx power adjustment configuration for the main node in Wireless - Professional menu is propagated automatically to all nodes..

Thanks!

Regarding question 1, spoke with Asus support on this and they say main SSIDs cannot be selectively enabled/disabled, they are always propagated. They also mentioned if I delete the default IoT and recreate it, it will allow AiMesh node selection. Just did that and it did works.

So now I have 2 Guest SSIDs (IoT and main Guest) that can be enabled/disabled per AiMesh node, but can't change main SSID.
