Asus DDNS Not Working

Is anyone else having issues with Asus DDNS right now? I've had it working fine on my router since I set it up, but it's suddenly stopped working, and when I try to reapply the setting, all I get is an error that says, "Request error! Please try again." Additionally, I have a "Disconnected" error on the router's main page as well.

I am using an RT-AC88U that is running Merlin 380.66_6.

Yup same here. From what I recall, the DDNS and router.asus.com go down from time to time. I periodically check/use them and I've noticed about 1 period of downtime every 3 months or so. It usually gets fixed after a day or two. Not a reliable DDNS if anything, but probably the easiest to use at least with an Asus router.

That problem looks like an issue with TOR rather than the DDNS.

Yeah my bad didn't even notice that. But Asus never had a good track record of zero downtime. No-IP is probably better but you gotta login and verify every month, which gets really annoying.

Why would router.asus.com go down? router.asus.com is the address of the router login page.

I used to use No-IP but I stopped several months ago when I got my Asus router. Do you know if you still have to verify even if you use their automatic updating software? I've never used it so I don't know how it works. Perhaps I will set up No-IP as a backup for when stuff like this happens.

router.asus.com is still linked to asus.com. If they screw up something on their end then the redirect doesn't work. From what I recall, it's happened around twice since I've used used the router. And I don't know about No-IP's software but this is still the policy on DDNS from their site.

I always figured that the router.asus.com redirect was a DNS entry set at the router level. As for No-IP, I guess I'll give it a try (again). Unless anyone knows of any DDNS services that don't require the annoying monthly verification?

Actually it might still run the DNS on the router. I don't remember what was the issue the most recent time but there was a time when router.asus.com redirected to asus.com for a few days. Maybe the DNS on the router itself got messed up.

I found something that might be relevant regarding the router.asus.com thing. Probably was something on my end. I do recall doing a full reset of the router and it still doing the same thing. Oh well it's been a long time.
