This means ddns is not updating or cannot connect to host provider. Can someone tell me what this symbol might mean (circled in red) ? I'm having trouble connecting to VPN server after exporting client configuration using Asus DDNS. View attachment 14547
Ah! That certainly confirms my problem then. Many thanks. This means ddns is not updating or cannot connect to host provider.
your asusddns is binded to the device!... and configured Asus DDNS with same settings as my previous RT-AC66U, which worked fine.
@RMerlin has made ample changes to the DDNS system you may want to update to 384.7 beta2 to see the changes and find out if it helps any. There are a lot of reasons that can fail. I used to have an issue with the dns I was using. I stopped using DDNS and now have a static ip.Ah! That certainly confirms my problem then. Many thanks.
I didn't do anything special when I bought this RT-AC86U. Just flashed it with latest Merlin firmware, set up VPN (which has never connected) and configured Asus DDNS with same settings as my previous RT-AC66U, which worked fine. What sort of reasons might there be for Asus DDNS connection failing? How could I begin to troubleshoot this issue?

Does it say invalid IP address or perhaps invalid DDNS address?

I mentioned this in another post

but I can’t blame dkalbach coming back: it’s such a friendly and helpful forum. Can’t blame him at all!
.
...As for the local IP address. If I can bridge the modem, should I be able to set up a DDNS on the router even though running SmartDNSProxy?
