ASUS gets into mesh game

ASUS takes a very hands off approach with SNB. I don't meet with them at CES and they don't provide announcements in advance so that I can get coverage written before the show. You also don't see them at the press events.

I'll get a post up at some point, but the CNET article has a good summary of the announcement.

Asus never been big on CES, as for them Computex is "their" show.

They had one live presentation to unveil their new phones. Info on everything else (Z270 motherboards, wifi, laptops, etc...) has to be fished left and right.

In the scheme of things, networking is small potatoes to ASUS.

Based on what I've heard, it's quite the opposite. They've made a lot of internal changes to deal with the FTC requirements. We should see the first results from this within a month or two.

new code base?

makes sense...

Think code audit and ISO procedures.

That's all I'm gonna say here.

Sounds interesting - while hopeful that some of the binary blobs and closed source components are minimized...

Could also make things more challenging for 3rd party folks - depends on how they handle the HW and SW abstractions... could also be a very good thing for 3rd parties...

Would someone kindly explain why i would spend $500 to have better coverage when I can get a Tp-link that covers same

A TP-Link what?
You wouldn't. But people who don't have good coverage might.
