Asus N66U Stream lags

LikeMike

New Around Here
Hello,

I have a problem with my router. When I stream a movie over the network (cable) to my bluray player and running alongside a download on my notebook, the movie lags permanently. The movie is on my hard drive which is connected to the router via USB. The download runs through a 100Mbps line.

I'm not sure, but the problem occurred after I had tested several firmwares. I had a long time the official firmware 3.0.0.3.108.

Then I had tested the following .151 / .155 / .157 RM12. In all of them the problem occurred.

What could be the problem? Which solution would be possible? I'm clueless :(

Are you using the dnla server? SMB server is not as nice. What size movie are you streaming? Could be a couple things including your player. 100 mbit may be your bottleneck. I can stream to two separate wdtv boxes 1080p content simultaneously (just as long as the movies are on separate USB hard drives) WIRELESS. One box is one floor down from router, the other is through two walls on the same floor (300mbit USB clients wusb600n's on 5ghz band).

I'm understanding you didn't have the problem until upgrading the fw? Maybe put the router into recovery mode and clear your nvram?

Yes, i'm using the DLNA Server. If I remember correctly, the problem was not there before.

How can i set the router into recovery mode and clear your nvram?

Alright... i think i found the right way to clean the nvram over the WPS button. I
I now use the firmware 3.0.0.3.151 again, because it's very fast. I hope that the problem is gone with the lags.

Is it possible that the router is overwhelmed when I look at the same time a movie and have run a download?

My English is not very good. Request for Forbearance ;)

Definitely not, I don't see it being overwhelmed. Only if you were downloading and streaming on the same band wireless. You mentioned your streaming was over wire.

I hope your problems are over too.
