ASUS RT-N66U with merlin firmware, can this router be join to 2012 r2 AD environment with a A record will this cause a problem.

Well, if I were an AD Admin, I probably wouldn't let a consumer router on to my AD tree...

FWIW, I do run a very large OpenLDAP implementation (scaled to 13M users), and I've very particular about what nodes attach to it to authenticate against...
