ASUS RT AC5300 CFE botloader edit

I would like to change my mac addresses in the bootloader but the cfe file I have downloaded from the router via telnet do not have any way to edit it. I have changed the macs in ac68u cfe bootloaders without any issues . Can anyone comfirm if it can be done.

May be bootloader is encrypted? Thus preventing change.

The RT-AC5300 bootloader is encrypted, as with all the newer Broadcom routers.
