Asus rt ac66u + asus pce ac66

Hi guys

I have the asus rt ac66u and also a asus cpe ac66 , the router has the last Merlin firmware on ( 3.0.0.4.354.28 Beta ) , but I have a problem with the 5GHz , when I start the router and the cp the asus pce ac66 connected with the router to the max speed 1300 mbps ,,,,but after a while (30 min ) the speed drops to 877 and than to 433 , I have to disconnect the asus pce ac66 and to reconnected to get again the full speed ,,,
how can I fix it ? this problem make me crazy because the router is just 30 cm away from the antenne of the pce card ,,,,,
I paid so much money for that and it does not work as it should be ...
any idea how to fix it ?

354 is a beta release. Try reverting back to the latest non-beta (270) and see if it's more stable.

Also, do an actual file transfer. The link speed can potentially drop when there isn't much network activity, and go back up when you are actively transferring data.

I get max 14 mbs by asus pce ac66 if I use the network cable I get 30-32 mbs trasfering rate ,,,,,,,with the pce ac66 I should get the same rate , right ?

It's not recommended, but it _should_ work. If you experience any performance issues in regard to wireless, then you will have to reset back to factory settings and reconfigure it manually to get rid of the new default values applied by 354.

Transfer rate might be lower over wifi. Don't forget that wifi carries a good amount of overhead and latency. The encryption itself will significantly drop performance, so you won't be anywhere close to the link rate. I don't know however what throughput speed you should expect.

I recommend taking a look at Tim's benchmarks on his RT-AC66U review to see what type of speed should be expected out of 802.11ac. I never did any serious benchmarking with the USB-AC53 that I have, so I don't know what's the typical speed you should expect from 802.11ac. I suspect it should at least be faster than the 14 MB/s that you got. I vaguely remember breaking at least 200 Mbits from a 866 Mbps link in a quick test.

but I also have a Linksys WUMC710 Wireless AC(1300) Universal Media Connector and it is about 20 m from the asus rt ac66u and I can transfer file with a speed of 30mbps and it connected to the asus router with 866 mbps , so I think the problem is not in the router but in the asus pce ac66 , I tried to swap from pce2 to pce2 express but does not make any different the transfer rate it is the same ,,does not go above 14-15 mbps ,,,

why they sell something that should go to 1300 mbps with a pce card that should be faster .... that is what make me crazy ...with the Linksys WUMC710 Wireless AC(1300) works super ..ok it connected with 866 mbps but I got a transfer file of 30 mbps ...and also it is 20 m away from the router , in 2 different rooms ...

just to close this post ....

I downgrade with the version 270 , still the same problem , I will send the asus pce ac66 back to the shop, the problem is not on the firmware of the router but on the driver of the pce card ,,,

yes of course I have it ,,,,
I also tried the old one , but from the first time I had the last on anyway ...

it is not that important I can use the cable , for me it is important that works the asus ac66u with the cisco ,,,and both are working perfect ....
