ASUS RT-AC87U in AP Mode ?

now I’ve got my new Asus gt-ax11000 working ok in router mode, I’d like to use my old Asus rt-ac87u in ap mode as a range extender, not sure which Ethernet port on the rt-ac87u to plug the gt-ax11000 into for the best performance, has it got to be the wan port or can any of the Ethernet ports be used on the rt-ac87u ?

use WAN port (so you have free all LAN for clients), but LAN will work too. Better to use only first 4 LAN ports as upper 4 may make problems (different chip).

Hi, thanks for your reply, WAN port didn’t work at all, it’s now working fine in LAN port 1, mine has only four LAN ports ?
