Asus RT-AX88U - replacement next gen?

Hello,

seems like my current Asus RT-AX88u has wearout his flash / nand - https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax88u-flash-nand-storage-issue.82400/

So im thinking about next router to get as this one is already 2-3y old model, so which one to get?

I really like the Merlin FW, VPN settings, monitoring, many options still good support, already know what to do and how...

8x LAN ports are used fully, but i could maybe live with 4-6x LAN ports.

1. So is there any next gen router from Asus to check? like better CPU / RAM ? - jump from RT-AC88 to RT-AX88 was huge HW power/speed increase
2. Stick with RT-AX88?
3. check some other manufacturers with good alternate FW & support?

Stick with RT-AX88 for another year and then upgrade to Wifi 6E
