ASUS RT-AX88U with ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware 386.8

I attempted to install OpenVPN using ASUS Firmware, but
very difficult to install (no VPN Client tab).

I installed ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware 386.8 to obtain an
easier way to install OpenVPN using the VPN Client tab.

I found that the ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware 386.8 seems
to be just as difficult to install OpenVPN as ASUS Firmware.

ASUS RT-AC51U ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware using
VPN Client much easier to configure and install OpenVPN, ie:
Advance Settings - VPN - VPN Client - openvpn -
Description - User Name - Password - Input.ovpn.file - Activate.

The ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware 386.8 is more difficult
to configure and install.

I'm using SurfsharkVPN and ASUS RT-AX88U. Is there a better Asus Router to us with
ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware that would be much easier in install ASUSWRT Merlin Firmware as
the ASUS RT-AC51U?

Also, I prefer Wireguard; will ASUSWRT Merlin, in the future, have Wireguard firmware?

Merlin doesn't make firmware for the RT-AC51U so I'm not sure what you're actually asking.

There is VPN Client and OpenVPN is supported. There is even selective routing with VPN Fusion in 388 Asuswrt.

It's exactly the same thing in Asuswrt-Merlin. Select config file, upload. Enter username, password, apply. Done.
