Asus RT-BE58U...?

New Around Here
Hi. What are the chances of getting Merlin firmware for this model?

I noticed that RT-BE58 GO does have the firmware. Can it be used also for RT-BE58U...?

Questions such as this are addressed in the subforum's [FAQ] READ ME FIRST before posting a question:

Q: Will you add support for model XYZ?
A: The decision whether or not to support a new model depend on a long list of factors, which may evolve over time. Right now:

- It needs to be Broadcom-based
- It needs to be widely available (not just in two or three countries)
- It needs to have high-end hardware so I don't have to fight with lack of flash or RAM
- It needs to receive frequent enough GPLs so I won't have to regularly skip it due to the GPL being outdated
- I need to have one
- I need to have the time to try supporting it
- I need to have the motivation to try supporting it

Each new model requires its own dedicated support. That means every time I work on a new firmware release, I have to work on each separate model, and I need GPL releases from Asus for each individual model, and I need to merge each of them separately. So that means if I support 10 different routers, then I need to merge in the content of 10 different GPL releases, and these need to be close enough to one another to still be compatible. The more models I support, the harder this is to accomplish, therefore I am VERY conservative regarding adding any new model.

So don't ask if/when a new model will be supported. I cannot speculate about future model support, and until I have working support for a model, I cannot answer that question.

I did notice that post. But 2 things worth noting:

The model number is exactly the same. For me it appears that it is almost the same model but GO is just "portable variation" (with less ethernet ports and no antennas and USB-C power, probably also less effective cooling). But what I briefly red otherwise the internals (processor, RAM, flash amount) are same.

And it seems that both of them are Mediatek based and Go model has support.

RMerlin has explained why the RT-BE58_Go is supported:
The RT-BE58_Go is an inexpensive WIfi 7 router. Marketed as a travel router, it might also be handy for anyone looking for an inexpensive Wifi 7 router to cover a small appartment. I don't usually support entry level models, but I decided to make an exception for this one.
Beyond that, here is an example of RMerlin's recent response when others have asked if xyz router will be supported:
The only model currently on the roadmap is the RT-BE58_Go. For anything else - please refer to the FAQ.
PS: And in any event as the FAQ indicates...

No, the RT-BE58_Go is a Broadcom BCM6764 device. And it's not the same device as the RT-BE58U.

ok. Regarding BE58U I am not sure anymore what to believe but maybe it was broadcom as well, at least according to the following review it would be Broadcom BCM6764L

To go along with what RMerlin indicated. The following doc from (fcc.report) that indicates it's for the RT-BE58U, TUF-BE3600, RT-BE3600.
On page 15 of that doc is a image of a Broadcom BCM6764. No idea if that site is valid but if it is, it would indicate that the two routers may not share the exact same processor.
FCC Report Capture BCM6764.jpg

Per https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/Broadcom/SoC. If that site is accurate, there is a slight difference between the two chips. In particular the BCM6764 supports 160MHz while the BCM6765 supports 320MHz.

Code:
~/gpl/asuswrt.102-39099-be92/release/src-rt-5.04behnd.4916/kernel/dts$ find . -name *RT-BE58*
./6764/RT-BE58U_V2.dts
./6764/RT-BE58_GO.dts
./6765/RT-BE58U.dts
./6765/RT-BE58U_PRO.dts
