Very non-scientific response here, but I got a new rt-be86u yesterday. First thing I did was upgrade it to the latest release *prior* to 3.0.0.6.102_39260 dated from November from memory, as _39260 wasn't out yet (missed by hours). I had an issue where the 2.4ghz network stopped working with this error:
Code:
Mar 11 20:47:44 kernel: wl0: AAP: linkid = -1
Mar 11 20:47:44 kernel: wl0: reason = mac suspend failure at 4009 seconds. corerev 138 ucode revision 41892.42713 features 0x5106

...so took that chance to upgrade to _39260 as that had literally just come out.

After an hour or so I had an issue where the 5ghz stopped working, which seemed to coincide with a burst of system log entries about devices being deauth/disassoc/assoc and lots of bsd (bit steering daemon) messages:
Code:
Mar 11 22:57:47 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(645): wl1.1: Deauth_ind D0:11:E5:72:D6:0B, status: 0, reason: Station requesting (re)association is not authenticated with responding station (9), rssi:-54
Mar 11 22:57:47 kernel: WLC_SCB_DEAUTHORIZE error (-30)
Mar 11 22:57:47 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(662): wl1.1: Disassoc D0:11:E5:72:D6:0B, status: 0, reason: Disassociated because sending station is leaving (or has left) BSS (8), rssi:-54
Mar 11 22:57:47 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(645): wl1.1: Deauth_ind D0:11:E5:72:D6:0B, status: 0, reason: Unspecified reason (1), rssi:0
Mar 11 22:57:50 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(722): wl0.1: Assoc D0:11:E5:72:D6:0B, status: Successful (0), rssi:-48
Mar 11 22:57:51 bsd: bsd: wl0.1 Sending act Frame to d0:11:e5:72:d6:0b with transition target wl1.1 ssid 92:cf:84:38:ba:9d
Mar 11 22:57:51 bsd: bsd: BSS Transit Response: ifname=wl0.1, event=156, token=3, status=1, mac=00:00:00:00:00:00
Mar 11 22:57:51 bsd: bsd: BSS Transit Response: STA reject
Mar 11 22:57:51 bsd: bsd: Skip STA:d0:11:e5:72:d6:0b reject BSSID

It took a reboot for it to start working again. I didn't have time to investigate much so just decided to remove the 2.4ghz band from the main SSID so smart connect was disabled. So I now have the main SSID only on 5ghz, an IoT SSID only on 2.4ghz, and a guest SSID which I have left disabled (due to a current lack of guests) on 5ghz.

The system log is now less busy (nothing at all from bsd as smart connect is disabled), and so far it hasn't happened again but will wait and see...

I haven't touched many of the defaults - locked the control channels and bandwidth (ch 11 20mhz, ch36 80mhz), disabled roaming assistant, and changed the 5ghz ofdma/mu-mimo from everything enabled to "ofdma d/l only" because my network isn't busy enough to need the rest.

Trying will see if I have any issues....

Since disabling smart connect by having my main ssid on 5ghz only, it’s been rock solid. That’s 36 hours now fwiw. System log is very, very quiet apart from devices going out and then coming home.

Updated our unit and surprisingly:
  • Client list all interfaces with wired connection installed (through a 24-port unmanaged switch) listed under 2,4 Gz network
  • Auto Firmware Upgrade was turned ON :(
Other vice first ½h usage looks good.
