ASUS RT-N56U or RT-N66U?

I`m stuck and need to order soon! I owned a RT-N56U in the past and loved it! But I`m seening so MANY bad reviews on the N66U. Wireless is not really an issue as most clients use an access point, and the rest are wired. Which one is the best to go with. I have about 15 clients or so, and 2 or so are heavy usage.

Hi,

Really?
I have seen so much good reviews and I love my N66U...

Do you have any concrete concerns?

With kind regards
Joe

Stability and Uptime :) I just ordered a RT-N56. Also if I got an RT-66U it would be refurb and Ive seen a lot of RMA even with the brand new so not sure. I hope the N56U will be great

I have a 24 port gigabit switch cascaded from my RT-N66, and I can plug my NAS directly into the router or into that downstream switch and I can max out the file serving ability of the NAS before I hit any bottleneck in the switch or the router.

If you look at my previous posts I link to a google drive doc with some throughput measurements from assorted clients through the AP and also I've done some limited benchmarks I've shared on my NAS's txfr speed.

If you're mainly concerned with wired clients put them all on an unmanaged gigabit switch connected to your router, only WLAN and WAN connections that needed it would even go through that connection. Either way I don't think it's a concern.

It took me longer to type out my answer to your post than it did for you to answer your own pretty anecdotally based question (that turned out to also involve a refurb vs new element). Love it.

The ONLY thing I remember not liking about the RT-N56U was (I like the old fashioned router look) :p even though that does not affect performance lol

I`ll just run all my wired stuff through a gigabit switch anyway and in which had the LED`s I can see:)

Should i take the chance and order the referb N66U from newegg or just stick with the N-56U? Cause apparently they were slow in processing my order so it wont ship til tommrow so I got alittle time to think.

Or if there is anything else recommended?
