ASUS RT-N66U as a bridge

I have a RT-N66U and a RT-AC66U, I bought the AC model because I thought that I would be able to use the two as a bridge between the new and the old model. It was my intention to have the N model placed so that it could connect my tv, PS3 and cable box wired to it, and the N model should then create a wireless bride to the AC model.
I should probably tell that I am not overly tech savy, but I have found out that the set up i was hoping to to is probably not possible with the authorized firmware. I have downloade and installed the latest firmware from Merlin (thank you) but I still am not able to see how I can make it work. Please can someone explain to me if there is a way I can make the two routers work as I hoped - It would really bother me if one the routers were just wasted.

thank you for taking the time to reply to my question - I had already seen the work instruction from Asus, but apparently it doesn't work when you are running WPA2 security on primary router - at least i haven't been able to make the connect in spite the fact that I have gone through the description several times.
I saw some post somewhere that there was a firmware that allowed you to put the second router in bridge mode - anyone who knows anything about this?

The best way to connect the routers is with Ethernet.

If that's not possible, then try a power line adapter. Some of the new power line adapter kits (home plugs) have pretty decent speeds.

I can't guarantee a power line adapter will work for you, but it's a good way to connect routers for many people who are unable to use Ethernet.

You could flash the rt-n66u with dd-wrt, then set it up following the wiki for client bridged. You can then set it up to act as a bridge on one band and as an ap on the other band.

Thank you both - I will try out first the powerline and see if that will do the trick for me, and if it doesn't I will check out the other option.
