Asus RT-N66U firmware question

DD-WRT should be fairly stable on the RT-N66U, provided you go with a known stable build (it's always random luck with DD-WRT since they don't have any established test/release schedule).

I have given up on DD-WRT due to the constant "beta" or even "alpha" status of the builds.
The user need to find out which build is stable for his usage and then no updates can be made (without again doing extensive testing on his own).
This is not acceptable at present, where security updates are coming frequently and new features are introduced on the home routers.

Given the incredible work of Merlin (on top of the good work from Asus) I do not see any(!) need for going to a less stable firmware!

have further tested the last few months.
Am currently staying now with Tomato by Shibby (K26USB-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-132-AIO-64K), running absolutely stable on my RT-N66U.

DD-WRT does run great, have used a long time, but Tomato has the better Static DHCP administration, so at the moment i am back to Shibby.

Original Asus WRT depends every few days and i must often be restart the router.
Even with the brand new firmware.
Merlin and hggomes also stable versions, but all have a smaller WLAN range compared to tomato and DD-WRT, but I can not say why?
All stock firmware based versions have verry bad Static DHCP administration

So i will test Tomato by Shibby the next days and hope all is good
