Asus rt-n66u Power problem

New Around Here
Hi,
this may not be the appropriate forum for such a hardware question; if not, then I'd appreciate if you could point in the correct direction...

I have an Asus rt-n66u wireless router for about 10 months. All working fine until a short time ago... suddenly, no power. Nothing else electrical affected, just the router.

I have switched electrical socket, same issue. I plugged back in the power and the side blue light in the actual Asus power adapter which is plugged into the electrical wall socket remains on and illuminated. However, when I connect the power to the actual Asus router, (a) the blue light on the adapter goes out and when I press the power on/off button on the router to "on", nothing happens. No lights, dead. When I unplug the power pin from the back of the router, the blue light on the Asus power adapter plugged into the electrical socket shines blue again...

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

thanks all
