Asus Rt-N66u = TP Link 8616 Problems

VipersRule

New Around Here
Hello,

I have been reading about this combo and it seems that the 8616 may just not work well with the N66u; is this true? Would I be better off getting a different modem?

I followed the quick setup for the 8616 and LAN and DSL lights are solid green (while hooked to PC via ethernet) and returns a positive ping.

When I try to connect to the internet it will not accept my PPPoE userID and password (Bell Aliant) and gives an error 651.

When I connect the N66u to the 8616, the lights on the N66u all stay solid, but it gets stuck in a loop trying to establish a connection after I put in my PPPoE info. It will search for a few seconds and then return to the previous screen and I have to try again. NOTE: this is using the Quick Setup using the Asus disc. I have not tried bypassing the quick setup and going right to the GUI to change more settings manually.

The 8616:

VPI/VCI = 0/35
PVC0/1 are both activated
It's in bridge mode, not VCMUX
No settings have been changed on the 8616.

N66u is fresh out of the box with no settings changed.

I am on Bell Aliant DSL.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks!
