Release ASUS TUF-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_33950 (2025/10/01)

Interesting! I feel like you would have experienced problems by now if the firmware was affected by the loading bug. May I ask if you are running any special settings that you could point to that would somehow eliminate the bug?
Indeed, I think I would, that is why I ran a "long-term" test (more than a week long).
If I remember correctly, the issues appeared within less than a day with previous revisions, and v3.0.0.4.388_33911 was an improvement over v3.0.0.4.388_33903.

I do not think I have any specific setting, at least I have not been playing around with the settings until things suddenly improved. Actually I did a hard factory reset and manually configured all settings as they were with v3.0.0.4.388_33427. This requires taking screenshots of everything and is a bit tedious.

The only difference is the hard factory reset that I did perform, but I have no clue whether it helped in any way, or whether the latest release just works!
v3.0.0.4.388_33950 just works for me with no issues, as v3.0.0.4.388_33427 does.

Thanks a bunch! I can see there are some differences to my own settings - which are almost as out of the box.

I might try one last stab at the 950 firmware where I set up things like in your screenshots.

You are using a different router model, if I remember correctly? (that still uses the same MediaTek chips though).

No warranties with my settings, but no risk in trying them!
I have to say I do not even remember the meaning of most of them! 🙃

@UltrashRicco

Yes, you are correct - my router model is the RT-AX59U

Things looked fine last night after I had updated, but the same old problems started showing when I came home from work. Luckily the process of rolling back is managable so I'm right back at 407 where things work as expected.

I had already tried a lot of small tweaks over several weeks with the 903 firmware, so I was in no way interested in going down that route again. Seeing your settings made me just curious enough to try a handful of them on my model though.

Specifically:
Protected Management Frames: Capable -> Required
Roaming assistant: Enabled -> Disabled
Preamble type: Long -> Short
OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO: DL OFDMA + MU-MIMO -> DL/UL OFDMA + MU-MIMO

But as already mentioned - and not the least bit surprising - it didn't work.

Sorry to read that @bingoshrimp, maybe Asus managed something with the TUF-AX6000-specific firmware that they did not with other routers yet? This latest release for the TUF-AX6000 came out much, much later than for the other models.

Also, two "beta FWs" were released for the AX-4200: https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navi...zZ2QwMi5hc3Vzd2Vic3RvcmFnZS5jb20sMzUxMTIxODQz
  • v3.0.0.4_388_33957 (starts with a 3, so not a beta?) file name TUF-AX4200_3.0.0.4_388_33957-ge8b1967_downgrade_sdk_to_v7670.trx
  • v9.0.0.4_388_33964 (starts with a 9 so definitely a beta FW) file name TUF-AX4200_9.0.0.4_388_33964-gd52d0ef.trx
So, Asus seems to be working on forthcoming releases, hopefully you can also get a fix for your RT-AX59U soon enough!

Quite frankly, I did not expect much from this latest release, yet it turned out OK!
Fingers crossed indeed, the improvements should be ported easily enough to the other routers with MediaTek chipsets!

I meant a "hard" factory reset, as described here: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1039078/
Here are some explanations regarding how sometimes a simple factory reset from the GUI or through the reset button is not enough:
https://www.snbforums.com/threads/faq-nvram-and-factory-default-reset.22822/

Worth giving it a shot before blaming the hardware!
Hard reset done and problem remains. I'm going to contact ASUS support.

I think I have to change my mind on this latest v950 release.

I found an interesting usecase: something changed in my setup between when I tried versions 903 and 911, and this testing of v950. Indeed, in the meantime I configured some Oracle VPS servers to which I permanently connect through WireGuard encrypted VPN tunnels. The router itself connects to the VPS through the VPN tunnel and all traffic goes through the tunnel.

I had to disable all VPN connections today in order to be able to access a specific website that detects VPN connections and won't allow them.
I forgot to re-enable my VPN connection afterwards, and I have been experiencing random failures to resolve websites over WiFi ever since, mostly with Youtube, Amazon and Facebook pages so far.
Switching from WAN to LAN has the problematic website resolve immediately...

So I guess my conclusions were wrong, and I issued false hopes, sorry about that.

There seems to be an interesting VPN-related usecase that I struggle to wrap my head around... no issues over a VPN connection, and issues with a stock PPPoE connection... it does not make sense to me!

Interesting indeed! Come to think of it, I may actually have experienced the same behavior back when I used an external VPN service on my phone on wifi.

But for other reasons I started always being connected to the VPN provided by the asus router, and since then - with the problematic firmware versions - I've had the connection problems, along with other clients on the wifi.

Alas, I must admit I have thrown in the towel, meaning I just bought a UniFi access point to completely replace the wifi functionality of the RT-AX59U. Sort of sad in a way, yes. But I've always known that the asus router wasn't going to carry my entire network at home, so the access point will be the first part of the setup that I'll build out in increments when it makes sense.

WIth the new AP, I'll benefit from having hopefully much better coverage, wifi 6e support (which many of my clients support today), as well as wifi 7 for the future. I'll of course be able to upgrade to 950, bringing better security while HOPEFULLY not having my browsing experience broken (and wow, it feels weird putting that tradeoff into words). I also have hopes that the weird behavior I'm seeing will go away, where the upload speed of clients on wifi is effectively halved compared to download speed.

Let's wait and see :)

Well, that is sad honestly that Asus did not care to solve these issues yet, that have been ongoing since... March 2025.
Too bad for Asus, they are drawing people to the competition.
I will definitely think twice before my next purchase of equipment that could have been from Asus.

Due to the issues since March 2025 that are still present in this firmware I'm thinking in returning the router. Any suggestion for replacement? I would like to keep with ASUS.
