ASUS / VPN / BT IPTC

Good afternoon, my first post and apologies in advance if it's in the wrong place. Advice needed: currently use a HH5 into the BT You view box and therefore get the HD / sports etc. I'd like to use a VPN enabled router (ASUS RT-AC68U with something like IPVanish) in order to use my Kodi enabled... Apple TV4 but still be able to get the HD / sports from the BT box. My understanding is that the BT IPTV doesn't like to go via a VPN. All suggestions will be appreciated.

I don't know about stock firmware, but with Merlin's version (or John's fork) there is policy based routing that allows you to direct specific clients to use the VPN.
