Hello,

I have ATT Fiber with BGW320 Gateway when directly connected to a router results in corresponding devices on the network (mobile/laptop/desktop) being unable to access a variety of websites like sling.com and other innocuos websites. The error message when browsing the web is that you are located in a non-US country so you're blocked. I am in the united states. This problem happens with either an ASUS Wireless Router or a Netgear Wireless Router. If I directly physically connect the device to the AT&T Gateway then I can access these websites, if I use any router connected to the gateway I get the blocked message.

ATT Support was less than helpful indicating since direct physical connection or ATT wifi was operational that this was a router problem. Although the same issue happens with all routers connected to the gateway.

I'm wondering if there is some setting I *must* now set on the Gateway in additon to pass through to resolve this, or if there is something needing to be configured on routers when connecting to a gateway.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I might be helpful to know how the router is networked to the gateway. What is the WAN IP in the router's interface?
 
Make sure you setup the BGW320 Gateway in passthrough mode and make sure the mac address of the Routers wan port is on the list

You'll get an IP from fixed IP AT&T, should resoulve your issue Netgear or ASUS.
Same as when you connect a devices directly ot the Gateway.

On the Router end, in my case ASUS AX88u set up the WAN to something similar

If tyou want IPV6 then you can also do this

If all is OK you'll get to the bottom of the Gateways status page and see the assigned (public) address like this "x.x.x.x / passthrough" or "Device List"

I've got AT&T Fiber, and they provided the BGW320 gateway only. There is no other device "RG" seems to be residential gateway? An issue I have is this is a multi-story building the gateway comes in the garage on lower floor, need wireless router to get access to upper floors. Also oddly this problem only started happening a few months back after no apparent change on my end. Just one day the gateway + router combo decided to tell me I'm outside the country when visiting certain web pages. The same happens for all routers connected to the gateway.

Thanks for the screenshots and helpful suggestions. On my ASUS router I have nearly an identical interface to what you've shown and my settings are the same. Similarly on the Gateway I was in pass through mode and I've add the router to the "Passthrough Fixed MAC Address" device list. I've seen before and after on my gateway status the page the public IP address is listed as pass through. I'm going to fiddle with a few reboots of the ASUS router with the the small change I made on the gateway of adding the routers mac address to the gateway list.
 
It's WAN IP is: 192.168.100.78, the gateway is in pass-through mode and the router is connected via ethernet.
This is a non-routable IP, so No you're not in passthrough mode.
At the bottom of the status page on the modem you should see something like this.

The WAN IP (in my case starts with 99.x.x.x, a routable IP address) as should yours (a routable IP) if its setup corrrectly

I have 192.168.10.x as the private IP behind the modem (for any devices that connect to it) and at the bottom you see the public IP assigned to the MAC addr that is presumably your router.
If you have something similar, then you have it in passthrough mode, you'll also see the public IP on the router staus page, in my case ASUS and ASUS DDNS if you're using the service.

Your routers and/or devices were compromised a few months back then. My guess is you or your kids installed a "free" VPN.




You must reboot the gateway and router after making any change to passthrough. It's not a white list. Select Asus MAC when using asus router. Select Netgear MAC when using netgear router.
I have a new router, newish gateway, and no kids. I'm leaning towards some bizzare configuration issue. A peculiar behavior is if I directly connect to the gateway via wired or wireless everything works fine. You add the layer of a router then you get the behavior of geo-blocking (and its the same on any router I've tried, and on any device connected to the router laptop, mobile, desktop).

The IP you are reporting to sling is not from America. Your router is reporting a foreign IP address to sling. Factory reset the routers, att gateway, and scan all devices you have. If the asus and netgear routers are EOL with security flaws, you likely got hit.
The public IP address when I visit whatsmyip.org and from and/all devices on the gateway or through the routers is always the same (public IP assigned by AT&T) and identified as american. I'm not clear how IP passed from router is different or changing.

The router and gateway are all relatively new (no EOL/end of firmware support). I did do the factory reset of the gateway but problem persisted. I've tried 3 different routers all with the same issue, the newest router is the AUS RT-X86U Pro which is running the latest firmware (just picked it up like a week ago). I'm going to pester their support and AT&T support. As a side note we did move the LAN do to conflict with other devices on the network. Many bedrooms/devices going into a multi-story townhouse.

No, the WAN IP of the router should not start with 192.168.
Based on your modem, in the picture above, it start with 68.x.x.x

In my case... The broadband IPv4 address is the passthrough address assigned to the router if configured correctly.
the Gateway IPv4 address is the IP address assigned to the modem by AT&T

Even with passthrough turned on, if you don't have your routers WAN ports MAC address where it says "Passthrough Fixed MAC address" under "Manual Entry"
Then its not setup correctly.
