AX4200, "safe" to use 3.0.0.4.388_33506?

New Around Here
I recently bought a AX4200 on sale, as i have always just used the ISP router/modem, but the WIFI signal and speed was quite terrible. I was getting rather frustrated with it, mainly with things taking ages to load at random times and some dropouts.
I searched around and saw that quite a few people have had issues like that with the newer firmware, so i flashed 3.0.0.4.388_33506 that most people recommended and it has been solid since.

I know Asus had some trouble with compromised routers a while back, so just wanted to ask if its "safe" or fine to use 33506?

If this router model doesn't work as advertised with the latest firmware and you have to downgrade it to >1 year old firmware before major vulnerabilities were discovered - don't waste your time, just send it back.

Hard to tell without knowing the list of every specific security issues that were fixed since that build, but chances are that if you don't use AiCloud and don't open your webui to the WAN, you should be fairly safe.

Seems like MediaTek model specific. Few folks replaced their routers, others switched to OpenWrt, etc.
