AX58U on original 388.22237, can't get 388.1 to load

Just bought a new AX58U. 388.22237 was released and I updated from original Asus FW that came on the device out of the box. Update worked without a hitch. Now I want to install Merlin 388.1 but every time I try to upload the file, the router complains about not the correct or corrupted FW and restarts. I re-downloaded the file – tried again – same result.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? The router runs a test setup right now so there is almost nothing installed or enabled.

If your router shows 4-core CPU in GUI - it's V2 hardware revision with no Asuswrt-Merlin support.

Thank you. That's unfortunate. I really like the size of those. AND I bought two of them allready.

Use them with stock Asuswrt. You have most of Asuswrt-Merlin features in 388 already. I get consistently better results with stock Asuswrt.
