Ax88u pro wall mount

Received ax88u pro in replacement of an ax88u today under warranty. I'm uncertain why they Indicate it's not wall mountable, or some reviews state it doesn't have the slots. It had the exact same slots as my ax88u and fit right into its spot.

Please no judgement as to placement, it's where I want it and it's quite cool inbetween floors per the ajaxcoretemp.

Thanks.

What failed on the old AX88U?

The router died completely unfortunately. No electrical issues or thunder/lightning/other that I know of.

I took my main ax88u router which was in the position seen in the photo, and moved it to where the failed node was in the living room, upgrading ever so slightly my aimesh router (was 2x ac88u now 1 pro/1 non pro.

Few Reddit threads, dong knows tech, etc, they mention the holes below the rubber inserts aren't slotted to receive a screw.

I see pictures online showing wall mount holes covered with rubber caps. Who are "they"?

They are that... mounting wells/slots/holes molded to capture just the right size panhead screw.

Can confirm the RT-AX88U Pro does have the slots, just like the RT-AX88U and the RT-BE88U. It's a feature of that design that isn't going away any time soon - thankfully.

i hung my old ac3100 on the wall for years by simply tying fishing line to the back plastic grill, and using a few foam spacers (similar to when you wall mount a flat tv) to add more air gap against the wall.

my reason for reviving this old thread is; the fins on the internal heat sinks are vertical, so would it matter if when i replace my old router with a new rt-ax88u pro if i hang it port side down instead of up?

i know most recommend leaving the 2 outer sticks at a 45° angle, but i am trying to get the radios to work best across one big single floor apt thru many plaster & wood walls, not some multi floor house.

Just hang your new router the same way to the same wall and don't worry about it.

If you are worried about best dissipation, look here.

There is no "exhaust" on the bottom, it would be better top up, but I can't comment on how much.

Too up, it would be better able to escape from the opening and, subsequently, through the ports.

Else, the fan below works on my ax88u pro which is mounted above a drop tile Ceilume ceiling on a floor joist.

thanks, i already have a reliable usb blower fan cheap off ali* i can attach by simply wire tie wrapping the fan case screw holes looped thru and around the many plastic air flow ribs. i was just curious if wall hanging people like me had specific hanging orientation preferences and why 🤔
