AX88U wont let me in webGUI

i just got this new router for but it wont let me get in the GUI or let me update it to merlin 14.0

is there someway i can get in to the router ? it brand new

Can you be more specific? Do you SEE the GUI and cannot login (user/pass) or does the GUI not load and you get an error in your browser?
Wired or wireless connection?
Can you see the SSIDs?
How are you trying to update to Merlin if you can't load the GUI?

192.168.1.1 or 192.168.50.1 should show GUI, did you try it? Connected via Wifi is easiest way to start.

Get ASUS update utility (or whatever it is called now).
