BE88U and AIMESH

Anyone having strange issues with the BE88U? (3006.102.5) Always had some issues and since I paired in a mesh with the BE86U I am having loads of issues....

1. Some Clients disconnect and wont connect back, rebooting router fixes for a while. (now I am down to the samsung TV not connecting)
2. When the router reboots some devices need to be rebooted to connect back (never happened before)
3. All Wifi devices seem to connect to the BE86U even the BE88U is closer. Actualy all 25 WIFI devices connect to the BE86U

Friend of mine had similar issues with the BE88U and had to switch it as meash and BE86U as main router and that resolve the problems. The BE88U seems a trouble maker of a router....

I have 2 BE-88U's and an AC-88U in a mesh network. Everything was stable using the 102.4 Merlin Firmware on both BE-88U routers with MLO enabled. I upgraded both routers to 102.5 and enabled MLO and that's when my trouble started. The BE-88U used as a node dropped all the clients and basically went deaf and dumb. The trusty AC-88U plugged right along with no issues. I factory reset everything and started from scratch, and everything was fine until I enabled MLO and then I got the same result.

Currently I running 102.5 with MLO disabled and the network is stable. I'll stay here until the next update in the Merlin firmware and hope it solves this weird problem.

Everything AiMesh and Wireless related comes from Asuswrt base used for Asuswrt-Merlin. If your ultimate goal is AiMesh - use stock Asuswrt on all units. If something is not right - report it to Asus via Feedback Form for a chance to get it fixed sooner.

I had similar issues at first with my BE88U and mesh nodes. I did a reset and set everything up from scratch, but the problems persisted. I even started to wonder if there might be an issue with the new BE88U itself. Since I had always run my mesh nodes without issues on Merlin before, I kept that setup. Eventually, I decided to flash the stock firmware onto the nodes. After one more reset on the BE88U, everything finally started working perfectly. It’s been completely stable ever since.

Definetely something wrong with this router... Did you just flash the nodes with stock firmware and left Be88U as main router with merlin?

Yes, did reset on the nodes, flashed with stock firmware and then reset the be88u and set up from scratch. Ethernet backhaul.

Test your AiMesh with stock Asuswrt on all units only. It happened in the past Asuswrt-Merlin was breaking AiMesh. Since AiMesh is closed source it wasn't possible to diagnose and fix. Asus engineer had to assist and it took some time.

Thought I'd play with aimesh, a busy network covering quite an area, already have APs all over the place.

Main BE88U
Node AX88U

So far so good but only 12 hours since I added it. Wireless backhaul right now, but that'll be ethernet later today.

But annoyed that guest networks etc don't follow across mind, do they if the second router is on 3006 branch? Perhaps there's a firmware update for the AX.
