Best three stream wireless router?

Kooper

New Around Here
Hey guys,

I recently got a laptop with triple-stream MIMO support and wanted to upgrade my router to take advantage of the enhanced throughput of using three streams.

What would you guys suggest as far as routers that support three stream? Which has the best wireless performance? I'm planning to use it for wireless gaming/downloads when I am not close enough to the router to direct connect.

Thanks for the help!

There is no "best" 3-stream router, like there is not "best" router/ap...

Really depends on your needed - there are several good ones out there...

Could you elaborate? What criteria would one out-perform the other? Which ones did you have in mind? Any would you suggest for any particular use?

Products tend to be more alike than different. If you use the Router Charts and look at the wireless benchmarks, you will see that every product has a weak spot.

Some have very high throughput with strong signals (Location A). Many have significantly higher throughput in one direction vs. another (uplink vs. downlink).

So "best" depends on what you are looking for.

If you want to see what people are buying and which reviews they are reading, check the Popular Wireless page. You will find the ASUS RT-N66U has been popular among SmallNetBuilder readers for some time.

gaming router?

Hey guys I don't know if you guys will be able to help me or not but I'm looking for a good gaming router. I bought an xbox about 2 weeks ago and my router sucks so my gaming sucks. I'm not really too good with this stuff, don't know what routers are better than others. I found this site http://www.squidoo.com/wireless-gaming-router and it gave me some what of a good idea of what I need. Anyways I'm considering the netgear ac 1750 model and I have an xbox and maybe two more computers on the router at a time. what's the minimum i would need and is that netgear model good for that?
