Better search and sorting

I would probably post here and help if this forum was better designed. I want to help with ISP issues. I specialize in Cox and other HFC ISPs, so I guess that would be WAN and LAN? But when I go there all the posts are 5-10+ years old. I try sorting them, but it doesn't work. Neither Search or "Better Search" has the ability to sort to show recent posts. I wanted to come here now that DSLR is shut down, but not if I have to pull teeth to even find the posts I can help with.

This doesn't help?

These forums have evolved to be primarily about ASUS products and more specifically about the Merlin alternative firmware. I appreciate your desire to help here, but you are probably better off over in Reddit for helping with ISP issues.

Problem with Reddit is it has deteriorated into a place for people whose priority is showing how much they know rather than fixing the problem or helping the user. Karma isn't even a good determination of the user anymore because of bots and karma farming. Some of the worst people on Reddit have the most karma. There is also the issue that it is hard to post without karma and it's hard to get karma without posting so it hasn't gotten a lot of new blood for a while and Google farming it for AI has only made it worse. But you have to use Google because Reddit search is so bad. Then there is the issue that they have problems with proton email, probably because it doesn't require a phone number. I tried Reddit for a long time. I was a pretty regular poster on the home networking sub but the constant pissing matches drained me. I was hoping I could find a place here to help troubleshoot. People who use the scientific method and all that.

How did that evolution happen? Maybe that's where I'm confused. Was this forum about other things back in the day? I just realized I had a different account that had hundreds of posts that I lost access to when my Gmail was hacked. Long story. It looks like I found a way to help back then. The domain has SNB in it, which I thought was Small network builder with an emphasis on router review. How did it become a Forum for Asus? I am not complaining because I am an Asus Fanboy but I find it strange.

SNBForums was originally started for discussion of SmallNetBuilder reviews and general small network topics. Once I stopped reviews and started consulting for octoScope (now a group within Spirent, which is soon to be merged with Keysight) the Forums became primarily a place for discussion around Merlin's ASUS distros. From there, it expanded to other ASUS topics.

I gave the SmallNetBuilder site and all its content to a friend back in July 2022. Since then, no new content has been posted and it is mainly run as an ad farm. Kinda sad, but that's the way it goes.
