New Around Here
Hi!

I have a main router RT-AC1900P.
If my PC is connected to it, I have a full 1000Mbps speed to my NAS.

I bought a Blue Cave to use it in AP mode to extend my WiFi in the house.

BEFORE
NAS -----ethernet------ RT-AC1900P -----ethernet----- PC = 1000Mbps

NOW
NAS ------ethernet----- RT-AC1900P ------ethernet------ Blue Cave (AP mode) ------ethernet------ PC = approx 200 Mbps

I tried to put the Blue Cave in Router mode but with DHCP deactivated and it worked. The issue was that the Blue Cave crashed after a little while.

NAS ------ethernet------ RT-AC1900P ------ethernet------ Blue Cave (router mode, no DHCP) -----ethernet----- PC = full 1000Mbps

Does someone have any idea of why it's behaving like that?

Thanks a lot!

What, exactly, is cabled and what, if anything, is wireless?

Hi!

NOW
NAS ------ethernet----- RT-AC1900P ------ethernet------ Blue Cave (AP mode) ------ethernet------ PC = approx 200 Mbps

AC1900P > DMZ > Put the Blue Cave MAC Address

Recommend this.
Use AiMesh.
Ac1900P: Main
Blue Cave: Node
AC1900P----cable----WAN port(Blue Cave): We call this 'Ethernet Backhaul'.

Sorry I wasn't clear. Everything is wired with cat6.
Thanks for the clarification and that sure wiped out my initial thoughts. So no, I don't know why it's misbehavin'.

But this might be a workaround until someone comes up with the real answer. Get a cheap/dumb gigabit switch (for about 20-ish dollars), unplug the blue cave and replace it with the switch and connect the PC to it. See if you have 1000 Mbps. Then connect your AP to the switch and see if everything still works.
WAN port (Blue Cave)
Actually, that's good advice for AP mode as well ...

Well, DMZ didn't change a thing about speed.

BUT, you talk about the WAN port.

I was using the WAN port of the Blue Cave and got only 200Mbps. I tried pluggin the cable between routers on a LAN port of the Blue Cave, and tada! It works!

I don't understand why, but it works and I'm happy!

My recommendation was this.
This is a correct connection.
Ac1900P: Main-'Wireless router mode / AiMesh Router mode (Default)'
Blue Cave: Node- 'AiMesh Node'
AC1900P----cable----WAN port(Blue Cave): We call this 'Ethernet Backhaul'

Sorry, I thought it was 2 alternate suggestions :)

For now I can't use AiMesh as I have Merlin on RT-AC100P. I might reverse it to stock if I experience other issues. For now, using LAN instead of WAN port does the job so I'm happy about it ;)
