BQ16 Latest Firmware & Consistent disconnections from the internet after a week or 2?

Has anyone noticed consistent disconnections after like a week or 2 with the BQ16 latest firmware 3.0.0.6.102_37026?

It's not my fibre provider as when it happens I have to reboot the router and the internet is back, It is consistently doing it since I put this latest firmware on although I did subscribe to a fixed IP address from my FTTH provider around a month or so ago also so I am not sure what is going on, I can tell it's not my provider also because of the 2 green lights on the fibre box are always still on so 100% it is the router that keeps losing the internet connection.

This is what is reported in the log when it loses connection every single time.

Dec 7 17:20:09 wan: finish adding multi routes
Dec 7 17:20:09 wan_up: Restart DDNS
Dec 7 17:20:09 dhcp client: renew 6*.***.55.84/255.255.252.0 via 6*.***.52.1 for 600 seconds.

I have noticed the 1st IP is not the same as the 2nd one, The last 2 sections of the digits are different but my fixed IP is always the same if that makes sense?

Loks like yoi do not have your static IP address set up correctly on the router and the ISP DHCP is forcing an IP address change.
WAN/WAN Connection type should be "Static" and the other fields filled in with settings provided by the ISP.

I did think that at first but it can't be because they said I do not need to set static IP in the router and to leave it as DHCP also my real IP has never changed since I purchased the fixed IP about a month or 2 ago.

Is there nothing before this in the log? The router may have lost its previous lease (couldn’t renew for some reason). More context is needed from the log if available.

No nothing around that time in the log, It's only at that point it lost connection and I had to reboot the router to restore my connection again.

Never had this issue with the previous firmware.

Couldn't hurt to give static a try.
I have a similar problem, setting my WAN as static with exactly the settings that are assigned by DHCP never works although DHCP always assigns my assigned address.

I've flashed back to the previous firmware Monday night and it's been fine since but still early days, Sometimes it can take over a week to disconnect but so far so good.

If it does it again then it's something to do with having a fixed IP address for whatever reason, I may have to cancel it to troubleshoot.

Been on previous firmware since Monday and no issues and also there is no DHCP 600secs lease time reported either as I mentioned in the top post so something is screwed with the latest firmware for me.

Just to update, Flashed back to 3.0.0.6.102_37000 and not 1 disconnection in 3 weeks so far, Latest firmware is goosed.

Is it the BQ16 PRO (US version) or the BQ16? Which features have you found problematic that cause disconnections and drops so far?

It's the regular BQ16 as I am in the UK so not the Pro variant.

With the latest firmware there is a total loss of internet, Wired and Wireless and it always seems to happen around a week in, looking at the logs it looks like it keeps losing DNS when it happens.

As soon as I reboot the router all internet access is back.

Still on previous firmware for over 3 weeks now and it has not lost connection once.

For how long do you have the system? It’s amazing to me that this system is already a year in the market and asus still can’t get it rock stable

I've had this router since around Feb/March last year and had quite a few firmware updates.

I know but it is what I hear about Asus routers, From what I can gather, They release firmware updates and rather leave the likes of Merlin or others to sort their mess out which he doesn't support this router anyway.

I won't be buying another Asus router that's for certain, Over £550 spent and they can't release a stable firmware with all the latest fixes and features that just works at least in my case.

Edit...Feb/March I meant.

My couple of XD6 units are consistently reliable, there have been very few instances of faulty firmware., while Asus mesh systems are generally regarded as top performers. However, the Wifi7 models clearly present a different set of issues. I’m ready to upgrade, and the BQ16 is undoubtedly the best choice, especially with its greater number of LAN ports compared to typical models. Reports indicate that the BT10 has been robust for several months, and the BQ16 Pro has garnered positive reviews, including from DongKnows. It’s baffling that they are struggling to maintain the BQ16 non-pro effectively.

Did you do a factory reset (via wips) after installing 3.0.0.6.102_36998 as recommended?

It is odd, I wouldn't mind I don't have a complex setup here, No mesh system it's a standalone router.

I have MLO globally disabled just all bands enabled without changing any custom settings other than setting the primary wan to the 10gb port as I am using a cat 7 cable to the ONT.

This previous firmware is stable but speeds are more erattic and all over the place for wireless and wired, The speeds were better and more consistent with the latest firmware but obviously I can't use it because it keeps losing my internet connection causing tje need for a router reboot.

Not fun when I'm at work and I get the Mrs calling me to tell me the internet is down and my 9 year old Autistic son is playing up because of the internet going off.

Yes I did, I always do a factory reset with all firmware updates just to make sure there are no issues or to at least isolate that from being an issue.

I've no idea why it keeps losing the internet connection after a few days or so, I've checked the logs and all it is reporting at the time it goes down is what I posted at the top of this thread.

I am not seeing the same notices in the log with the previous firmware that I am on.

I'm having a similar issue now on the latest firmware - the internet will drop, but the router connected to my ISP shows no issues on the LED and when I try to login through the mobile app or the website I'm unable to authenticate. A power cycle resolves the issue temporarily, but it has happened twice in the past 24 hours now (no rhyme or reason).

I'm going to do a factory resetand set everything up again. Ugh.
