My issue is that I have 2 WIFI 7 PC's that run MLO and a couple of iPhone 17 ProMax that connect via MLO as well as the backhaul using it so I am reluctant to turn it off when that is the reason I bought the system.

Well, it may come down to choosing which you value more while you wait for ASUS to fix it someday. The user / client experience across the internet is unlikely change whether you use WIFI 5 , 6, or 7. Local services across your LAN, maybe, if you have the high speed backbone and devices that can keep up with faster than 1 Gbit/s lan.

The best performance option with current just enough for advertising MLO support is Disabled and Wi-Fi 7 devices with high bandwidth demand on 6GHz band only. In @Yorkshirelion case the two PCs, eventually. For phones/tablets it doesn't matter since the improvement in user experience compared to Wi-Fi 5/6 is minimal to zero. Phones/tablets connected to 6GHz band is just usable range limitation.

For a test I disabled MLO on Fronthaul and Backhaul for the router, the backhaul is currently at around 1700Mbps and it is just using one of the 5Ghz radios. The router has been online for 15 hours and these are the current figures;

6ghz - txper_ucastdt 5.3% txper_rts 3.0%
5ghz-1 - txper_ucastdt 8.9% txper_rts 3.4%
5ghz-2 - txper_ucastdt 2.4% txper_rts 0.8%

You perhaps know retry rate depends on the environment as well. User experience is the only measurement that matters. If you and your family members are happy - good. If not - don't count on future fixes, sent it back immediately. You didn't pay £900 to watch numbers and fidget with settings.

I hear what you are saying, I will have to do some more testing and then make a decision, I mean the last update being in October last year isn't great. One PC connects to the main node and one connects to the second and they are the biggest bandwidth users so I will have to see how it looks now.

I have turned off Wifi 7 as well for testing and emailed everything to Asus and I will see what they say but I'm not hopeful.

I'm not familiar with your use case, but possibly eliminating wireless parts of your network is the way to go. Your ~1700Mbps wireless backhaul on 5GHz band and in the UK means any detected RADAR signal (actual or in error) will kill your network instantly. This type of multi-band wireless systems in Europe are kind of pointless, limited by channel availability, maximum Tx power allowed (different for non-DFS and DFS), building materials specifics, etc. Consumer products vendors just get the money without explaining any details.

The thing is with Wifi 7 and MLO enabled I was getting around >4000Mbps on the backhaul and wasn't having many DFS problems using 160mhz, I would get occasional hits on the 5Gghz-2 as it uses higher channels. However it would seem that the MLO implementation is an absolute mess and I will probably have to use the router in 6e mode basically to have any stability. I'm hoping it stays ok like this. Or the other alternative is to have the router reboot every day say 5am to be able to get through a day before its gets too degraded.

Apologies for highjacking this thread I will just leave this last post here for anyone else who sees this and has the Asus BQ16 uk variant that has 1 2.4ghz radio, 2 5ghz radios and 1 6ghz radio. I cannot find a way no matter what to stabilize the radios, theres a possibility that it is just my unit but I highly doubt that.

I have the UK Version of the BQ16 Pro which has one 2.4ghz two 5ghz and 1 6ghz, I can't get the router to stay stable for anymore than 4-5 days before the wifi falls off of a cliff and I have to reboot the router.

After running wl -i wl0 counters on both 5ghz and the 6ghz it comes back with the following after 4.5 days;

• wl0 (5GHz-1): 57.2% / 99.2% error rates
• wl1 (5GHz-2): 64.6% / 61.6% error rates
• wl2 (6GHz): 98.8% / 93.4% error rates

I then reboot and it is fine for another 4-5 days, I would imagine the error rates go up each day but I haven't checked this yet. I am on the latest version that was released in October and nothing in the logs shows anything that is causing a problem so I don't know what is happening. I emailed Asus support but there response was so generic it was almost untrue.

Mine is the UK version also, Is that with the latest firmware?
Mines has been ok with the previous October firmware but the latest is shirte, Forever disconnecting.

Mine does this with every firmware, I tried the October one and had the same issues with it eventually grinding to a halt after a short period of time. Never lasted more than a week without me having to reboot to stabilize the wireless. By the end of a week before I knew this was the issue wifi devices would be getting 1-3Mbps on a speedtest.

I would completely lose all internet access anything between 3-5 days with the latest firmware, Wireless speeds are more erratic on the previous firmware at times but overall it's more stable than the latest firmware for me in terms of at least holding an internet connection.

I regret buying this thing.
