Broadcom first to release Wi-Fi 7 chipset family for devices, home gateways, and enterprise APs

The new solutions will boost phone Wi-Fi 7 speeds to 5 Gbps and reduce latency with as much as a factor of 100, Broadcom says.

The first WiFi 7 home router was just announced a couple of days ago. The spec sheet for the H3C Magic BE18000 says it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Networking Pro 1220 platform with a 2.2 Ghz Quad-core CPU, likely the next iteration of the one used in the Asus RT-AX89X. It’s a tri-band model with dual 10G ethernet ports and has a 18.443 Gbps peak data rate. No word on an availability date yet. Looks like the timeline for WiFi 7 adoption just got dramatically shortened.
