Hello,
Long-time reader here with a noob question. I just bought a brand new Buffalo Linkstation Live LS-CHL (my first NAS) yesterday. I just sent 30GB worth of files over 100Mbps Ethernet and I'm hearing dull thuds during the transfer. Am I hearing the 'click of death' or is this normal NAS revving up noise? I'm lucky enough not have a hard drive die on me before so I don't know how the 'click of death' sounds like. Are there any other probable reasons for the noise (power supply, ethernet cable, sunspots)? Is there a test I can do to make sure of the NAS' integrity?
Carlo
