New Around Here
First time poster, I hope someone can help!

I have 3 Asus routers. All set up as a mesh.
#1 (RT-AC86U) is set as the router
#2 (RT-AX58U) set as a node
#3 (RT-AX53U) set as a node and connects to #2 as it's priority connection

#3 is in the garage, and the signal has always shown weak due to the signal between #2 & #3 having to pass through 2 walls and a bit of garden.

I have now run an ethernet cable between #2 and #3.

The setup I was hoping to achieve is this:

#1 <- wireless -> #2 <- wired -> #3

When I tried this, no matter which ethernet ports I used to connect #2 & #3, it still connected node 2 and 3 via wireless.

Q: is it possible to connect 2 nodes via wire?
Q: if it is, which blue/yellow ethernet ports do i use, and do i need to change any other setting?

My workaround, that seems to be working just fine, is to set #3 into AP mode and use the same SSID & PW. But I assume this isn't ideal and isn't using the aimesh.

Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance to anyone that can shed some light on this.
