It's not a bug, it's a technological issue. Regardless of how well Asus might have shielded the internal traces in the router, if your external disk or its cable aren't equally well shielded, there will still be interference. That's why that setting is present for all models, not just specific ones - some users might still need to use it.

If you're not using the USB3 port, feel free to disable that feature...

Only comes into play if the port is used, and.. if the device attached to the port is USB3

And if the device is poorly shielded.

I have one of the original RT-AC68U, and never had to use that setting for any of the thumb drives or HDDs I've plugged to it. In fact, some HDD fail to work properly if you enable that option.

It's mostly the quality of the cable with the USB3 devices...

USB2 devices plugged into the USB3 port - not at issue...

Give it a try and see... worst case, flip the selector from disable to enabled if needed.

USB3 _may_ interfere with 2.4GHz - depends on the device.

I tested the reducing USB 3.0 interference with my Asus ac1900p today.

With this option enabled and download 2GB file from router's USB 3.0 flash disk to my iphone 7(5G band), got 25MB/s

With this option disabled, and do same test again, got 45MB/s , and I am browsing web with my notebook's 2.4 G band fast too.

btw i did another test with "reducing USB 3.0 interference" disabled.

plug my usb disk in to ac1900p's USB 3.0 port.

use my notebook's Intel N 7265 wifi(2.4G only) , I got 13MB/s when copy a big file from the router usb 3.0 disk to my notebook.
