Cannot connect to SSID (2.4GHz) but able to for 5.0 GHz

New Around Here
Dear all,

I've been rebooting and trying all sort of means but can't seem to find a solution to my situation. I've also tried searching the forums, to no avail. Hopefully some of you may be able to shed some light into this.

My AC66U is currently in AP mode, and I've set different SSID for the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz. My android phone (Samsung S3) is able to connect to both frequencies, but unfortunately, my iPhone 5 and new iPad can't seem to connect to the 2.4GHz channel, but is able to for the 5.0 GHz. This seemed to be an issue as the range for 5.0 GHz is pretty low.

The error is "unable to connect to the SSID" despite entering the password.

For the 2.4 GHz, I've set the following paramters:

Firmware: Official Asus latest AC66 firmware
Wireless Mode = Auto (b/g Protection enabled)
Channel Bandwidth=20/40 MHz
Control Channel=Auto
Authentication=WPA2-Auto-Personal
Encryption=AES

Any inputs?

Scratching my head here :(

For the 2.4 band it is best to use only 20mhz and to pick the most unused channel possible.

Hi Pierino

I tried changing to 20 instead of auto.

No change there, still can't access the 2.4Ghz band.

It seemed that all the other devices can only get through to the 2.4 GHz and not 5.0.

Any other solutions?

Hey all, I seemed to found the solution.

I needed to manually enter the MAC address of the devices which I wanted it to pair with.

This seems cumbersome, is there anyway that I can do without needing to enter the MAC filtering?

Yes: just don't enable the MAC filtering option on that page.
