I can't remember who taught me that, but it was a long time ago. Verizon does the same thing on FiOS and it was driving me insane when switching back and forth between two routers when I was troubleshooting something.

I can't test it with my connection (my Asus test routers are in double NAT), but it obviously worked for @brec. This is a very good and useful find, because I've seen multiple unplug modem for 1-8-12h recommendations on SNB. This button makes the waiting pointless.

It is only 'pointless' on some connections. Some still require a manual disconnect.
