Can't get antennas off RT-AC66U B1

I screwed the antennas on hand tight and I can not get them to screw off.
I can't see anything that locks them on. I never had this problem before.

Has the device completely cooled down ?

how many years have they been on there ?

could be a little bit of corrosion or galled threads.

get a piece of thin rubber pad like what you use to grip jar lids when you need to open a jar the first time.

see if that is enough grip.
If not, using the rubber pad and a pair of slip joint pliers, gently squeeze the rubber as close as possible to the antenna base and turn the antenna counter clockwise. Or have someone turn the router clockwise while holding the antenna as above.

I'm getting very forgetful in my old age. I just remembered that when it arrived from Amazon, in the new sealed Asus box,the antenna were already installed on it. I guess they were installed permanently by Asus.

Yes! This will take non-removable antennas off for sure. Come on @degrub, you know better.
