Can't locate 2nd Router on LAN

bbear

New Around Here
While trying to "upgrade" some networking for this guy I ended up losing track of a DGND3700 router. The setup is Modem --> TP-Link Router (main and does the DHCP) --> (new part) connect LAN port of router to WAN port of DGND.

From the TPL I can see the DHCP assigned IP address to the DGND at 192.168.1.60 if using the WAN port of the DGND, but I still cannot talk to the DGND in any way. When I use the LAN port of the DGND, it does not show up on the TPL's DHCP list.

As a separate issue, I tried to do a factory reset on the DGND, but for some reason it doesn't work.

You only need 1 router. Your new router either needs to be put into Access Point mode or you need to connect to the DGND3700's LAN port, not the WAN port.

When you connect to the DGND's WAN port, everything behind it will be NATted, meaning you would need to setup port forwarding to be able to access it from upstream. Double-NAT is usually something you want to avoid.

You might want to check out some home-networking FAQs, as this is a common mistake.

Good luck. :)
