Chromecast on different subnet...

I've probably posted in the wrong thread, but I was wondering if there is a simple way to do what I am trying to do.

I have a chromecast, ip 192.168.0.1 Not Changeable. My whole network is on 10.0.0.x Naturally I do not want to change this as I have light switches and all sorts of things configured for this subnet.

I can't seem to work out how to get this thing to work? I've tried using its mac address and putting it into the reserved ip however this does not work.

Can someone tell me please, is there a way to get this to work?

Why do you think you can't change the chromecast's IP address? A quick google search finds plenty of documentation about how to do that.

According to all my searches, it states it can't be changed. There seems to be no way to get into it to do it. Perhaps you are thinking of Google TV? this is just the cheap screen casting device?

Even the oldest, cheapest versions of the Chromecast have always used DHCP. You can't manually change it on the device, but you can set it on the router (LAN>DHCP Server) or it'll just find select a suitable address for itself within the routers DHCP pool. The really early ones can be a bit of a pain to set up over Wi-Fi, sometimes the easiest way being to temporarily turn off the router's 5GHz radio. And once setup, you may have to reset it if you make any substantial changes to your Wi-Fi.
