Cisco 1921 and T1

New Around Here
I have a Cisco 1921 that corporate sent out and I need to connect it to a T1. I have not played with Cisco in quite some time and the 1921 is new to me. The 1921 has two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Can one of the Ethernet ports be used for the T1 or does it require a T1 WIC card inserted to one of the slots. Every Cisco device I have seen connected to a T1 uses wic cards. I suspect someone forgot to wonder a T1 one card.

Yes, needs a wic for a real T1. Question though, is the T-1 in there now in the room and what does it have and is it a real T-1 or is it a T1 over ethernet ?

It's a real T1. They already have 3 other T1 cards plugged into a Cisco router for internet. This new T1 and router are strictly for VOIP. There is no fiber or Ethernet isp in the area. It's DSL , T1s or WISPS only in this area.

Yep, you need a WIC card.

Either HWIC-1DSU-T1 or VWIC3-1MFT-T1/E1.

I sent the request back up to corporate. Frustrating when you are use to doing your own purchasing and running the show, then you get bought and then everything has to go through a distant department.:(

You might want to find out what they mean by "VoIP".

The VWIC3-1MFT-T1/E1 is actually a voice capable card - it can be configured as data-only, or it can also be used to various functions like drop-and-insert for a key system or PBX.

If it's just VoIP passthrough, the 1DSU card will work fine.
