Confused about OpenVPN firewall settings

Hi there,

I recently switched from using Tomato by Shibby to Asuswrt-Merlin.

I set up OpenVPN and it is working nicely. But I am confused about the following:

For OpenVPN I set up a specific port range. And, in the past (Tomato by Shibby) I would have to add firewall rules to allow the vpn users to see the non-vpn users on the network.

But with asuswrt-merlin it is working right out of the box without my having to add any firewall rules.

So my (silly) question: has this been preconfigured on the asuswrt-merlin? Do I need to worry about adding my own firewall rules for OpenVPN?
