Connect AC66U+OpenVPN+AppleTV to existing modem/router

New Around Here
Hello!

I would like to connect a AC66U (Asuswrt-Merlin 380.64_2) to my existing modem/router, run the OpenVPN client and connect a AppleTV by ethernet. I still need one computer connected by ethernet and some other devices connected by Wi-Fi to the modem/routers.

What's the best way to setup this kind network? What I understand is that double NAT is not a recommended solution? And using the AC66U as a AP does not let me the OpenVPN client.

Thanks in advance...

A double NAT setup will work fine. You can run either your AC68 ahead off your other router or behind it depending on security considerations and ease of administration.

You probably don't want to connect to many other devices to the AC68 when you are streaming to your Apple TV using the VPN as the processor will really be busy and might slow other functions down.

Thanks!
I have tried double NAT setup but it's very very slow... This is my settings! Do I miss something important or is there anyway to speed it up?

Not sure what is slow.

In the AC68 setup set the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 and see if that helps.

Setting up a double NAT results in ms increase in latency at worst case.
