CPU temp High RT-AC5300

I am runnig merlin 380.57 on my RT-ac5300, and my cpu temp is never under 81.
Any tips or suggestions on what to do ?

I have never seen cpu temp's get this high. Do you think this is normal for this cpu/model?

I don't know what normal temp is. Keep in mind the BCM4709C CPU is clocked at 1.4 GHz, faster than the BCM4709 in earlier ASUS routers.

If the product is properly designed, it will shut down before temperature could harm the chip.

My AC3200 was also doing that kind of temp. So what I did is I buy a cheap laptop cooler with usb powered big fan. Placed the router on top of it.

All the temps dropped at least 10C.

We see similar temperatures on the RT-AC68U, and I should add that mine ran at that temperature for well over a year withoutt problem; I wasn't even aware of its temperature. And I only added cooling for something to do! There have been several threads on this topic, just one example of which is at:

Hopefully it's not an issue. I've been having constant disconnects with my laptop with the latest firmware from Asus, but when I changed to the Merlin 380.57 firmware all of the connection issues disappeared. So I am glad for that.
