bonjour,

cordialement

hello,

I replaced my SFR box with my orbi RBR50. In the original firmware, I did the manipulation in the Vendor Class 60 which is in the internet configuration part. I have the internet but that in IPV4. Because obviously, the DHCP 16 option is missing in the IPv6 part of the Orbi..
In your firmware is this option?

Sorry for my English, I go through Google Translation.

Cordially

SETTING OPTION VALUES USING EXPRESSIONS

Sometimes it’s helpful to be able to set the value of a DHCP option based on some value that the client has sent. To do this, you can use expression evaluation. The dhcp-eval(5) manual page describes how to write expressions. To assign the result of an evaluation to an option, define the option as follows:

option my-option = expression ;

For example:

option hostname = binary-to-ascii (16, 8, "-",
substring (hardware, 1, 6));

:p

Basically, he has 2 problems:
1) installing the 2.5.2.4 firmware. He tries to flash his satellite (firmware 2.7.4.24) but he says it always goes back to 2.7.3.22. I told him many people here can help him with Orbi, in English.
2) setting option 16 in the DHCP client on his Orbi; for that one, I recommended to install Entware and use isc-dhcp-client-ipv6

sorry ;)

@HELLO_wORLD : I managed to install 2.5.2.4 and upgrade to v. 9.2.5.2.23SF-HW cutting the net. without that, he always put me the 2.7.3.22.

concerning DHCP option 16 in ipv6, currently I don't have much time (vacation^^). is there a possibility that @Voxel will implement it in a future update? before I try with Entware and isc-dhcp-client-ipv6

Hi Bakaman. I'm having the same issue where I'm flashing my satellite from V2.7.4.24 to V2.5.2.4 but it always takes me to V2.7.3.22 instead. How were you able to resolve it?

Hi @ntt.
I downloaded 2.5.2.4 firmware and then voxel firmware. I unplugged the network cable to cut off the internet and I installed firmware 2.5.2.4 and after, that of voxel.

Quick question since search is failing me.

Did factory resetting ever get resolved? I would like to flash the firmware then factory reset and send to a family member so they can set it up like they desire but not with the Netgear firmware on it.
Know Voxel was busy with family/life/situation but had replaced my Orbi so havent thought to check!

My house's power flicked off and it seems to have bricked my RBK50. I cannot factory reset it, cannot tftpd it, cannot access the webUI or anything. It just breathes the white light forever.

Is my Orbi permanently bricked? I just don't see what I can do at this point.

You should be able to perform TFTP restore. It is not difficult. 5 min. Difficult to kill your RBK...

Unfortunately there is a problem...

This worked on my Satellite just fine, and I successfully flashed voxel on it.

My Orbi router on the other hand... I flash 2.5.2.4 on it via tftp, let it install into the flash memory, wait for the router to turn pink, but absolutely no webUI at 192.168.1.1

I held the reset button for 30 seconds while powering on. This makes the power LED flash red and visible for tftp. The firmware upload is successful, but the WebUI simply isn't working. On the satellite, 192.168.1.250 worked fine, but with the router, even though I've repeated this process many times, it doesn't work.

I also tried using tftp to flash voxel. Same result.

Ok, it turns out the problem was my router's ipv4 address didn't reset. For some reason it remained on the custom address I set it to, and kept all its settings too, even though I held the reset button for 30+ seconds several times.

Everything seems to be working now. The one problem is that my Orbi satellite is detected as a Linux computer by the router in attached devices (instead of having the satellite icon). In the past that meant there's a problem, but devices are still connecting to the satellite just fine so fingers crossed
