DAP-2553 firmware update issues

obender

Occasional Visitor
I have two DAP-2553 with FW 1.12 and thought to give the latest 1.20 FW a try.
Update went without any issues but then I found that none of the setting can be persisted any more.
In the admin GUI it looks like your changes took effect but when you restart the AP all changes are gone.
I reverted back to 1.12 and everything returned back to normal
The D-Link support is of little to no help.

Good rule of thumb is "if it's working and you are happy, ignore any and all firmware updates". ;)

Well as you can see from my other post it is not completely working as I expected so I was wondering if FW update will make any difference. I've noticed someone else posted another issue related to 1.20 FW so I guess all around it is not a good FW build. :(

I see - I have replied to your other thread. Will check which firmware I have and report back in that thread later.

By the way have you tried saving your settings to a config file, then rebooting and restoring that config?

No, also there is a suggestion to reset to factory defaults after FW update and then restore config settings from file, which sounds reasonable.
But now after I saw some reports on 1.20 having issues with 5Ghz band I'm not even sure I want it :)

I checked and I am running firmware Firmware Version 1.12 dated 14:22:49 03/24/2010, with no problems at all. I have been using 2.4ghz band. Will try it in 5 ghz over next few days and see how it goes.
